Star Wars. I mean even in the beginning- [i]Along time ago, in a galaxy far far away........[b]-chills, all over. And I would have to say that i disagree with the statement about watching 1-2-3 and than the original trilogy. Thats what i'm going to do once the 3rd episode finally comes out.
STAR WARS ALL THE WAY BABY!!!!!

Ive always leaned more toward stories that have beginnings, middles, and ends...star trek kinda aimlessly wanders on...

^yea i've noticed that too. the only thing i ever watched that had to do with Star Trek were the movies (I Love Patrick Stewart!). I also watched the old episodes just to listen to Captain Kirk lol.

Have to go with Star Wars. It's considerably less pompous.

Rocketman
I used to love Star Wars, but the other day I saw a video clip of William Shatner singing "Rocketman" at some 70s awards show and now I have to say I can't stop watching old Star Trek episodes.
Also, I didn't find the last Star Wars movie very tolerable.

imho both are equally excellent in their own rights. Star Wars have the better films, but Star Trek, ST:TNG and ST S9 are all great shows.
I don't think I could choose really.

IMO Star Trek would be better if they gave it a rest for a while- it's the same rehashed plots and storylines being used constantly. Star Wars stayed popular because of the fantasy appeal (lightsabers, The Force) and the fact that instead of putting out a new movie every 4 or 5 years Lucas worked on the movied for quite a while. After all, as Lucas once said: Movies are not released, they escape.

The new star wars movies are just special effects and action sequence, A little bit of story escapes, but nothing like 4,5, and 6. Trek is my number one love. The optimism for our own future. Helps show what e are like from another point of view or to just be entertained. Over the many episodes you get to know the characters, especially in TNG. You can see how each personality reacts to unknown situations, and there is the exploration. There is a quote "There is another reason to boldly go, a simpler reason. We explore, its what we do"-referring to humanity. The spirit of optimism and discovery is what keeps Trek alive and well after nearly 40 years, 10 movies, 100s of shows and books, dozens of games, a Las Vegas attraction, and 1000s of fans.

Star Trek, obviously. It has that "the future will be better" type of attitude, not the "future is grim" as shown in Star Wars.
