His mother's death was a big part of it I think. And Obi Wan is like a father to him, and every kid rebels against their father at some point. I'm guessing his secret marriage will be found out, and you can't be married and be a Jedi, so they cast him out and Darth Sidious / Chancellor Palpatine takes him in as a Sith. Killing Count Dooku is probably his test.

Also, he wasn't supposed to be trained in the first place. Yoda felt much fear in him. "Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. I sense much fear in you."

The thing that gets me, is that when Qui Gon found him, he said that "he's the one who will bring balance to the force". Now when this happened, the Jedi were flourishing and the Sith were nonexistant (as far as they knew). So why did they want balance? To me, that would mean equal parts good and evil. So, given all the warning signs he had given them in the ten plus years they trained him, couldn't the Jedi have seen he'd turn evil? Was all of it necessary to wipe out the Sith in the end? (Vader destroying the Emperor)

I always felt that it wasn't Anakin directly that would bring balance. Qui Gon feelings were correct, because without Anakin we would never have gotten Luke, who truly brought "balance". I also don't think that balance necessarily means the Sith, I think it means all good and all evil, whether you are jedi or Sith doesn't matter, it's whether you have a good heart, or an evil one.

Hmmm...
I'm ventuing a guess here, but I'm thinking that Sidious offered Anakin the respect and the chance to go up in the ranks that the Jedi were afraid to give him based on the fact that he was indeed 'the chosen one'. If I'm not mistaken, the chosen one is supposed to bring 'balance' to the force... and in Episode III he wipes out the jedi, making it an even two Sith (Sidious, Vader) versus two Jedi (Kenobi, Yoda). I think that is the kind of Balance the force was supposed to have all along, just two on each side...

His mother's death is truly a reason for his fall to the dark side. He said he would want to become the greatest of all jedi. And Sidious promised him "... power wich cannot be tought by a jedi..."

I think that refers to what he said in AOTC, about someday being powerful enough to keep people from dying.

Anakin turns to the dark side I believe to save the love of his life, Padme. Like any man who loves any woman, Anakin would do anything to prevent these nightmares he is having from coming true. When Palpatine offers him a way out, a way to get more power, he accepts it. However, as Obi-Wan said in ANH, "Vader was seduced by the dark side of the force." Seizing all this power, with no regrets, no limitations, is too much for Anakin Skywalker. So what forces Anakin Skywalker to turn to the dark side? Love and greed.

I think whats going to happen is Sidious tricks Anaikan into thinking Padme is dead when he infact has her inprisoned, and Sidious blames her death on the Jedi and probably mostly on Obi-Wan.
