"Underworld"

I kinda liked this movie. The storyline connecting the vampires and werewolves was interesting. The CGI used for when the werewolves (or lycan) was a little cheap though. It's like they crossed "Blade" and "The Matrix" to get the look of this film. The ending of the movie left it open for a sequel, which I've read is happening. If it was any month other than October, I might not have liked this as much, but I give it a 6/10. Solid, but not memorable. My favorite clip is when Kate Beckinsale jumps off the building, lands, and walk on without missing a beat. That impact just looked cool.

"Duel"

I actually got drawn into this movie, however unusual I thought it was! The more I saw of it, the more I wanted to stay to find out what happens.

watched the crappest movie last night. Windtalkers with Nicholas Cage. absolute shocker. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to waste 2.5 hours.

I totally agree with you on that. With John Woo and Nicolas Cage, I thought it would be great. I'm thinking of using the DVD as a coaster.

Watched a skateboard movie last night called Grind, kinda liked it mostly cause they got the essence of a teenage guy down perfectly. good fun
Theres also some hot chicks and some clowns.

Watched two last night:

"Taking Lives"....more like "Taking two hours of my life". A boring, predictable murder thriller. Angelina Jolie is an FBI agent looking for a serial killer. Kiefer Sutherland makes what amounts to a cameo appearance in this movie. It was like they combined a Lifetime movie with an episode of C.S.I.

"Hellboy". It was like watching a comic book come to life. Ron Perlman was great as the title character. For a movie that deals with Nazi's and the return of an undead Rasputin, it had a lot of laughs. This was the director's cut that I watched. Not a whole lot was added, just a bit about Rasputin's eyes being gone, and a couple dialogue heavy scenes, but no action.

Dawn of the Dead: Director's Cut

"Mindhunters". I wanted to see this solely because of the cast (Christian Slater, Val Kilmer, LL Cool J) and the fact that Renny Harlin directed it. He's had some duds in his career (Driven, Cutthroat Island) but there were others that I really liked (Die Hard 2, Cliffhanger, Deep Blue Sea, Adventures of Ford Fairlane).

The plot is about a group of FBI profiler trainees who go to a government owned island on a training exercise. They go there to solve a murder, and end up just trying to stay alive. It's not as good as my favorite Harlin movies, but it does pack some genuine surprises and keeps you wondering. If you like C.S.I. type shows, you'll like this. 6/10 or a C+

"Dawn of the Dead: Director's Cut"

I didn't really notice much different from the theatrical version on this DVD. Just a nude woman, a scene where we learn that one guy works at Best Buy and a longer shot of the zombie baby and some zombie deaths. Maybe there's more to the actual bonus features, but I never really watch those. I loved the movie though, one of the best zombie movies I've seen. Much better than "28 Days Later". Ving Rhames was perfect, he makes a great cop. This is one remake that I prefer to the original. The only thing it's missing, and that most zombie movies are, is a solid reason for why the zombies are there in the first place.

7-10 or a B-

Both first-time viewings:

George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead". The only part which scared me the most was that one zombie at the beginning of the movie. Boy, could he move fast! The rest just seemed a bit too slow-paced and predictable for me. I just wanted the zombies to "hurry up!"

7/10 or a C+ maybe

"Cliffhanger". The best movie I've seen in a long time. It definitely makes my top ten list now. I loved everything about this film. Even the title is perfect! Incredible acting from all the cast. Though for me, Michelle Joyner's performance stands out especially; very tense stuff. The plot, action scenes and one-liners are fantastic. Highly recommended.

9/10 or an A
