I saw "Be Cool" today. I really hope it's the worst sequel that I see this year, because I can't imagine any being much worse. John Travolta was the only good thing in the movie, and he was nowhere near as fun as he was in "Get Shorty". He just kind of breezed through this movie. Vince Vaughn was annoying. Harvey Keitel was shockingly bad. Uma Thurman still hasn't made a good movie since "Pulp Fiction". The Rock's role was poorly written. Christina Milian was good, but mixing her with Aerosmith was just stupid. And Cedric the Entertainer was anything but entertaining, that goes double for Andre 3000.

Just got back from seeing "Sin City". It was better than I thought it was going to be. I was afraid it was going to be too over-the-top, like "Kill Bill" was. I'm glad it wasn't. It almost makes you stare at the screen just to make sure you don't miss anything. Mickey Rourke was easily the best thing abotu the movie. He played his role perfectly. The only thing I'd have changed about the movie, was that I'd rather the stories had been blended together, instead of told consecutively. Only because once Mickey's part was over, it was kind of a letdown. 8/10
I wish the trailers had been better before it. "House of Wax", "The Devil's Rejects", "The Amityville Horror", "The Lords of Dogville" and "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" aren't movies I want to see. At least the threw in "Revenge of the Sith".

I went to see "Sahara" today. It was very good, better than I expected. Definitely a whole let better than the trailers made it seem. The action was good, the story stayed on track and the actors were all likeable. There was never a lot of tension, but it was nice to just sit and watch it all unfold.

Okay, so I watched "The Terminal". I liked it. Tom Hanks was great. I didn't think I'd care for his fake accent, but it worked. It was fun seeing the whole airport support him. He did everything he could for everyone else without any complaints. The only thing I didn't like was Catherine Zeta Jones' character. After identifying her problems, and overcoming them, she fell right back into them in the end. Seeing her go back the married guy at the end just so Hanks could have a one-day pass to the city was awful. That scene where he just watches her leave with the guy really brought the movie down. She was basically prostituting herself. I really don't know what to make of the ending, where Hanks and Jones see each other outside. Did she come to her senses and leave the guy, or did she just have her fun with him and had to go back to work? What should have happened, is that she should have brought that jazz musician to the airport so Hanks could get his autograph and then she flies home with him.

I watched "Catch Me If You Can". It was just a very enjoyable movie. Everyone in it was great. Leonardo Dicaprio was slick as a con man, Tom Hanks was funny as the FBI guy after him and it was great to see Christopher Walken play something other than his typical of late: weird guy role. I loved the vibe of the movie and Speilberg did a great job with the look of it. It's odd to see how pilots were first treated like big shots when the airlines were just hitting the mainstream back then. Now they're treated no better than bus drivers.

An indie film called Hit Me that played last night at the Dances with Films film festival in Santa Monica, California. I got the film about a week before in a box that the head of Dances with Films sent by messenger to me with a bunch of other films, many of which I'm still working on.
I just saw an incredible short as well called " Driving Around, Following Strangers", which knows what movies can do in showing the hidden corners of Seattle, the beauty in the simplest places with a music score that raises it to another plane. Also being reviewed for Film Threat.

I just saw National Treasure and from the trailers and commercials I thought it was going to be stupid, but it actually very intriguing and the clue after clue kept your eyes on the movie. The dvd is cool, too. If write down all the letters that Riley's gives after you watch something it adds up to spell treasure and unlocks more clips and a game.
